BBC Top Gear Vintage Challenge – Mercedes 600 Grosser VS. Rolls Royce Corniche

Here’s a segment (scroll down for videos) from one of our favorite TV shows… the BBC’s Top Gear, testing one of our favorite cars, the Mercedes Benz 600 Grosser Limousine, against a Rolls Royce Corniche.

In Top Gear’s typical, farcical style, James May pilots a Rolls Royce Cornice and Jeremy Clarkson drives the Mercedes 600 through a series of trials and tests to see which car stands up to their ridiculous thrashing the best.

I figure these cars have a few things in common… they’re big, heavy cruisers, built to be the best of their respective breeds. They’re also two of the cars that scare me most when it comes to potential maintenance and repair bills. They were cars for rich guys when they were new because they had big price tags, they’re still cars for the wealthy today because you’ve got to have plenty of money to maintain them in their old age.
