I will be representing the SL Market team when I attend the 26th Annual Minnesota Lakes Classic Boat Show and Speed Reunion in Alexandria, MN the weekend of July 12-14, 2013. While the Minnesota Lakes Classic Boat Show has been going on for more than 25 years, the Speed Reunion, a gathering of vintage European automobiles, is a new addition to the festivities head quartered at the historic Arrowwood Resort on Lake Darling in Alexandria, MN.
Last year, Chris Runge, local Alexandria, MN resident and editor of the Motoring Journal, teamed with the classic boat show organizers to add an automotive component to the weekend’s festivities.
Things kick off for car enthusiasts Friday afternoon with the ‘Tour de’ Lakes’ a scenic driving tour around the Alexandria Chain of Lakes with a visit to the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum as well as a stop at the Carlos Creek Winery for a tour, tastings and live music.
There is a welcome dinner Friday evening for skippers and pilots (boats and cars, motorcycles too!) to swap stories and gear up for the Saturday classic car and boat show.
The car and boat show are on Saturday from 10:00am – 2:30pm boats will be displayed in the water with classic European cars and motorcycles on the lawn of the Arrowwood Resort.
I will be attending the Friday Tour and Saturday show with SL Market Letter subscriber, Mercedes-Benz aficionado and owner of Freedom Boat Service, Dave Bortner. He will be taking a beautiful vintage Gar-Wood boat to the show, towing it behind an SUV, I will be following behind in our tour / show car for the weekend, Dave’s 1969 Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3 sedan.
